"I do not have to tie myself in knots to gain illumination"  ( Buddha )

Yoga is not about contorting your body into strange positions.  In fact the opposite is true.  You “go with the flow”, encouraging your body to work within its own limits in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Everyone can do it regardless of age, sex or ability.  Yoga is often used as a tool to complement medical science.

Yoga classes include a balanced group of physical exercises that stretch and flex the body allowing the muscles to let go of built up tension, using the breath to focus the mind.  In addition each class includes a period of deep relaxation.  A combination of these three - exercise, breath and relaxation - over time will enhance flexibility, increase strength and stamina, improve concentration and help to calm the mind.  It is not a quick fix; rather a gradual process that brings many rewards and helps you move towards self-development.

Yoga is tried and tested.  It originated about 5,000 years ago in India.  That is why the language used is an old Indian language called Sanskrit.  The word yoga means “union” and suggests the bringing together of the mind, body and spirit creating a harmony within.
